I would not use “Latins”. I prefer Latino. I do not like LatinX, but I understand the place it takes for gender non-conforming folks so I’m indifferent to it. “Latine” is another option, gender neutral.
Also, recall that Hispanic and Latino are not the same thing.
Latins is incorrect, are they maybe trying to say “Latine” as a gender-neutral word?
Latinx, like Filipinx, is kind of controversial and I’ve noticed from folks overseas that it seems to be an American thing and hasn’t caught on as much in any other area. A lot of people dislike the words because it doesn’t translate well into the languages- the ‘x’ is used in some circles for inclusion in English in words like folx and womxn, but doesn’t have the same meaning in Spanish or Tagalog. Maybe something along the lines of “Individuals of Latin heritage/background” would be more inclusive?
