Companies did everything they can to stamp out loyalty. Now loyalty only extends to the length of my paycheck.

That’s the way it needs to be!
Loyalty is self-destruction for the employee. Unless the employer is providing growth with significant increases for performance, staying with one employer usually means falling way behind inflation and ends with career stagnation. I haven’t had an employer like that since the late nineties and if that company didn’t fold I’d still be with them. Today’s employers are just burn and churn. Burn them out, then move on to the next one. Rinse/repeat.
