Hi! I’m trying to breaking into HR or L&D. I have a management and coordinator background in the entertainment, fitness and hospitality industries. Also, decided to study for the entry level SHRM cert. Are there any staffing agencies out there that specialize in placing HR type roles? Would love some recs. Thank you!

Looking for going market salary for current job as HR Director, NJ, support 100 employees (multi-state), one person HR department with PEO, private ad agency, parent company in NYC. Feel like current salary is low $96k. Have PHR & SHRM-CP, been at company 4 yrs and I have 10+yrs of HR experience.

Hi everyone! I’m planning on taking the SHRM-CP exam in February and am really nervous! Does anyone have any advice for study materials / does anyone have anything they used that they are selling or giving away?

I’m taking the SHRM-CP exam today and I’m pretty nervous. I’ve been studying for three months but somehow it still feels like it wasn’t enough. Any words of encouragement?

Taking my SHRM-CP exam on 12/13. I got an email saying that Mac users will have to reschedule if they have the new software. I do. But I really wanted to take the exam that day because I was going to put tell my employer that I am certified so I can get a very much needed raise.
Idk what to do 😩 any advice?

I am an HR “Manager” with 8+ years experience. Bachelors in HR and a SHRM-CP cert. Currently employed at a manufacturing facility w/ 80 employees in Metro Detroit, Michigan (Macomb Twp). I am a department of one with no direct reports under me. I feel as though my role is more of a “generalist” position as my duties are more aligned with that. I am currently at $75k and promised to be increased to $82k in the next month. Bonuses are discretionary and never the same amount. Fairly compensated?

Hello! I am in Charlotte and I am working for an Engineering Consulting company based out of Maryland. I am working on getting my SHRM certification in January. Right now I am making $65k (my last position was payroll specialist, and I just moved into the HR side of things this last month). Should I expect a pay raise in January after getting certified? Hello, I am a Human Resource Manager with SHRM-CP certification and 3 YOE. I am working for a non-profit in Minneapolis, with roughly 80 employees making 72k annually. Does this seem reasonable? I am hoping to continue earning more, so I am also curious as to whether anyone has any thoughts on the value of a masters in Human Resources?

I'm SHRM-SCP certified and I have been interested in the total rewards or compensation side of HR. Do you think that getting the CCP certification is a good investment? I've seen many Total Rewards open positions but I feel I don't have the necessary experience. Any advices?

I have been working with a company for about 6 years as a Recruiter but I don’t feel I’m gaining the best recruiting experience due to so many limitations our company has. I’ve had to teach myself Boolean searching to be more active in recruiting. I have not had the luxury of someone to truly mentor me into a Recruiter so I’m trying to find any way I can learn and be more employable. Any advice? I’ve obtained my SHRM-CP, CIR and am in the process of a the PRC. What else can I utilize or do? Thx!

Thoughts on including certificates like Prosci or SHRM-SCP in an email signature? I don’t like it right after my name, but I’ve seen some other alternatives (like putting the digital badge icons) - what looks the best?

Reviewing a salary offer for a Benefits Manager position in Greensboro, NC industry is retail. Offer made of $95k with 18% bonus. I have 16 YOE, degree in Business, and PHR and Shrm certification. Potential employer has 10k plus employees. I will have two reports and will report directly to the Director of Total Rewards. Any thoughts or advise on offer made? I will let them know on Monday my decision to accept, counter or decline. Thanks!

I'm currently working as an HR Director for a New Jersey non-profit of about 165 employees. I have been with the company 7 years and have a total of 10 years in the HR world. I have my Master's in HRM, my SHRM-CP, and am currently making $87k yearly. I have 7 weeks PTO, flex scheduling, and the ability to work remotely at my own discretion.

My father in law thinks I'm worth at least $40k-$50k more than I'm being paid currently. I don't know if he's right. What do you think?

Hello, I am HR Generalist; 9YOE. I am making 65k with a yearly 5% MIP bonus.I have my Masters Degree in HR management and currently working on my Shrm certification. Being that inflation is a huge issue these days and also seeing what other jobs are giving their HR Generalist starting rate of 75k and up. How do I go about asking my company to look into a job pay evaluation and giving more pay based on what’s out there in the Market? Also, with having a masters is my salary to low?

Hi Fishbowl Friends! I’m looking in to starting a masters program in 2023. Background on me - I’ve been in HR for a little over 4 years now and earned my SHRM-CP last spring. Looking for more ways to improve.

Would you recommend any specific schools or master programs? I’m in Tampa, FL but I know most programs are remote these days. :)

How long does everyone suggest studying for SHRM-CP? Recently registered for the Dec - Feb testing window and haven’t started studying yet. I’m a pretty good studier / test taker but just want to gauge how much time should be put in pre-exam?

Is there any resources someone can point me to about the potential legal issues and more information from an HR perspective about contingent employees (temps, contract workers, part-time workers) versus normal FTE’s?
