I was not diagnosed but was hospitalized due to a neurological scare a couple of years ago and my neurologist did a lumbar puncture (aka spinal tap) to determine if I had MS or not. Sending lots of positive thoughts and prayers your way 🙏🏽.
Hey everyone, I got my scan reports back. It’s not MS, it’s cervical stenosis, a few disks in my neck are herniated and causing mild spinal compression. The compression on the spine affected the nerves around it leading to the numbness, tingling, and arm/leg nerve pain. Physical therapy over the last few weeks has been helping. Going to continue doing this while making changes to diet and upping exercise once the pain has subsided and the disks are healing. Thanks for everyone’s inputs, glad it’s not crazy serious!
Sorry for the long post, PwC 1. 28 y.o., went through sharp shooting pains on my right side for a couple of weeks. - excessive fatigue, numbness and tingling (almost like a small shock) starting from base of neck going all the way to the extremities of the limbs. - Muscle cramps/spasms, balance issues while walking, and cognitive problems leading to inability to work. Also had a couple of other symptoms that led the neurologist to go “we need you to get an MRI because the symptoms fit and you’re at the age where this (MS) typically shows up. If it’s not MS, then it could be something else causing nerve damage and we’ll need to run tests to check your nerve health and reflexes.”
Side note - my blood work is mostly fine except for a vitamin D3 deficiency.
I don’t know how to get through the time till I get my MRIs done and see my neurologist again. I canceled my NYE plans to travel, and am staying home to rest. While at home, incessant googling has led me to finally realize that various health incidents that’ve happened with me in the last decade may have been attacks.
Wow, this is so scary and I truly hope for a favorable outcome with the tests. I too have had some strange symptoms over the past couple of years. Fatigue, bad aches and pains, numbness and tingling in my hands/feet, and most concerning: brain zaps (which feel like mild electric shocks in my brain). I haven’t been to the doctor yet but wondering if I should after reading your post. 30 F for context.
Keep us posted on the results. Hopeful for a good outcome.
OP, my mother is a medical surgical nurse and nursing professor for over 40 years. If you’re comfortable with me sharing your detailed post I can see if she has any suggestions, questions you might want to ask, and/or avenues to take to help reach an understanding or diagnosis. Let me know; also feel free to DM me if that’s more comfortable.
Thanks PwC 1, if any of your symptoms are interfering with your daily functioning and life, I’d definitely suggest bringing it up with your doctor to see if it’s just stress and anxiety or some underlying condition. I ended up going to the doctor because even though I’ve had ongoing anxiety/depression issues earlier, there were never physical symptoms at this scale.
ACN1, yes please, I’d really appreciate if you could see what your mom’s inputs are after looking at the post. I’m going to try and get a hold of my MRI scan reports as soon as I can (the scan was only done today). My next neurologist appointment is not until after many weeks so it’d be great to understand what’s going on.

Thanks ACN1, appreciate the kind words
All the best OP. Really hope it’s not the case.
Thanks, I hope so too!

Wow OP, that’s serious. How old are you and what are your symptoms?
