I want to go in-house and leave my firm ASAP. I have an offer from a large insurance company in claims but fear it won’t get me closer to an Assistant GC role.

I also have two interviews:
1️⃣ Collections & Litigation Counsel – Handles collections, disputes, litigation, and compliance.
2️⃣ First U.S. Employment Counsel – Builds the employment function, drafts policies, and advises leadership.

If I pass on insurance and don’t get the others, I’m stuck. Am I making a mistake?

If you take the first job offer, will you be happy doing the work? Will you enjoy the work? Will you like the people you work with? Ultimately yes, you are unhappy performing your job, in my opinion you will have a hard time reaching your goal of being an assistant GC. You also need to consider whether this insurance company has a GC role that you might one day fill.

If you do not take the job and you do not receive an offer from the other two interviews, you would be stuck temporarily. You would not be prevented from continuing to look for positions that align with your goals.

I had a great review and a 5.5% raise and a great bonus at my company. But I also got a new Director and a peer manager of mine left the company, so I will be absorbing her team. In addition, my director said I will be receiving 'deep delegation' from them. I don't mind more work, but deep delegation is a new term I've never heard. What does that mean lol?
