Definitely not CSK. Absolutely not.
Wicker over csk, don't know about hinshaw.
CSK is certainly a conversation starter when it's on your resume. People have fun asking me how bad was it, how much did I bill, is it true xyz happened
“Did you really have to work on Saturdays?!”
Hinshaw
Wicker over hinshaw. CSK shouldn’t be on the list.
Hinshaw for sure
Unfortunately CSK has a rough reputation from many attorneys I know. One of my colleagues has been there since passing the bar and is doing well however, others burnt out within 1-2 years of being there.
Agree with above, not CSK.I say that and I’m a CSK alum in BL.
Any advice for those of us already there and wanting to go to BL?
All wrong. CSK is the best. Nobody likes CSK and rightfully so, but you will regularly see Associates go from CSK to mid/Big Law. The majority of the time it’s people who had the credentials to go mid law out of school but didn’t get it. Every important attorney/judge in Florida respects Tom Scott because he was a Federal Judge and the US attorney. It’s his firm and the biggest in the state. All of that lend it a sort of credibility.
I’m not advocating for them, I left recently, but I wouldn’t have taken a job at the other two.
I don’t think it’s impressive, but it’s more impressive than other ID firms in Florida. The general problem is you can get stuck in ID very quickly irrelevant of which one you work at.
I don’t think anyone serious sees it as a black mark. I could maybe see that perspective if you were evaluating someone who lateraled to CSK. But many people take it as their first job out of school and use it as a platform to other firms.
I think if you stay at CSK and clearly have intentions of making partner there, that should operate as a red flag to employers. But ultimately, there’s good and bad attorneys at all these places and various practice groups. I think more often you’ll see people leave CSK to better firms than the others and is certainly held in higher regard right out of law school.
At least 1 or 2 other associates and I went from my CSK office to BL but it’s not the norm
I went from CSK to biglaw in the same practice area but only because the lateral market is unbelievably hot
