Where an actual wrongful termination claim could exist:
1. If the real reason was discriminatory (age, race, sex, disability, national origin, etc.) and “performance” was pretextual
2. If you were retaliated against for protected activity (whistleblowing, FMLA leave, workers’ comp claim, union activity)
3. If there’s an employment contract or handbook language that limits at-will termination
4. If you are over 40, the sudden termination after 16 years with vague “performance” reasoning could be worth examining for ADEA/age discrimination. (The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 is a US federal law that protects applicants and employees who are 40 years of age or older from employment discrimination based on age)

I would I’m going through the same thing with 16 years of service I’m going after them u should do the same
I was with my company just of 11 years did the same thing to me. I can’t prove anything, but I have an idea what it was really about as it was just a week and half after I submitted a dr note for working at home. I am have yet to find a job. That was 7 months ago. Not sure what is going on. I hate to travel 2 hrs w gas prices the way they are but I may have too.

I’m sooooo sorry! In Florida, right to work state, they can let you go for any reason it seems! If you were working from home due to dr restrictions, they have to abide by that. But if they can’t a find a place for you based on the restrictions, they can let you go. I got a workman’s comp attorney to help me get payments. And I was let go at the end. 🙏
