I work in a tourist town and peak season is heading my way rapidly. The first cruise ship docks in my town tomorrow. This season brings a huge spike in workload, but never in compensation. It really feels like a grind, and I wish the employers here would offer a peak season bonus of some kind. Do any of you get some kind of compensation like this during abnormally busy times?

Forgive the basic question but can you contract around state statutes? For ex, customer wants to insert state contractor payment statutes and have that state law govern. I’m assuming the way around this is to have another more preferable state as choice of law?

When renting a condo from an owner, I was asked to pay a $150 move-in fee to the building which I thought makes sense, but then I am being told to also pay a $500 non refundable move in fee to the owner but he is not wanting a security deposit.
