What will the project dynamics be on a project staffed with 3mdps, a PL, and myself, a summer UG intern? Just got staffed and will be hearing more on Monday from the team, but it came across as an interesting staffing composition.
Have the feeling I'll be making quite a few slides as the only junior. Anyone staffed on a similar case composition?

Yeah +1 to what B1 said. Idk the policy at Bain, but you could just use career services if you’re at BCG (going by your title) to find a cushy exit.
Fwiw, I’ve seen a couple lateral MBB moves at the 2-year mark- unsure if they were CTLd or moved due to other (geography/visa) reasons.

How’s the career service in BCG? Do they link you up with hiring manager of your target company? Or just you need to reach out yourself?
OP I got transitioned and got offers from McK, Bain, EY-P, and S&. It is possible. Just got to have a good story and obviously not bashing at BCG even though I got transitioned bc quite literally got screwed by a partner group I did a case with. I won’t go into the details but a lot of cdc is politics but oh well C’est la vie!
I decided to stay in consulting and give it another try to see if the culture at another firm is better for me. Best of luck!
Thanks BCG4! I figured they’d either look at it as a chance to grab someone who clearly has a strong resume/background but might have been a bad fit at BCG for whatever reason, or very leery since it might mean they couldn’t do the work.
I’m glad to hear it was the former!
Why would you want to stay in consulting at that point? Honestly if you got into a MBB you’ve proven you’re smart and capable, and the exits will probably be more than fine. Might as well go somewhere with better WLB.
I’m not sure to be honest, I’d like to find a great exit and am working to make that happen, but also really feel like I had a ton of bad luck. With the economy the way it is, I’m thinking it’s not a bad backup option.

Is BCG4 that friend that BCG3 mentioned above?

I think so :)

No one can ever know why you're leaving regardless of whether it's due to bad performance or not. Just have a solid story for the jump and you're good to go.
OP - it seems you are aiming at tech exits. As someone who exited consulting to tech I’d really suggest you do enough diligence on the specific roles you are aiming at. My personal view is all such S&O roles or any non technical roles at a tech firm are a support in nature role which might not give you the career path you’d like. Lots of folks here over glorify tech exits just do your homework if you haven’t yet.

Makes sense. It’s ultimately a product company

Friend just got transitioned at BCG and had 5 consulting offers including McK / Bain.
Echoing what BCG1 said. As a former BCGer who left for industry, I’d highly consider just leaving if you’ll be able to be at BCG for 1.5 years or more. Imo at that point you have the brand credit.
I will admit though, depending on your desired industry, it may be a difficult time to exit. Tech hiring is rough rn.
Yeah, will be at around 1.5 max once I leave, and am looking at tech primarily which is one reason I’m considering staying in consulting for a little longer
