I'm always wondering if it's a bad idea to crack a clean joke or bring up mundane topics, like how's the coffee here, to break the ice at the beginning of a high-pressure interview. I tend to use humor when I'm nervous, but I don't want to be seen as unprofessional. Have you found that being a bit lighthearted helps your chances, or does it usually backfire?

I always err on the side of bringing up mundane topics. I hate trying to crack a joke and then nobody laughs. I do think being a bit lighthearted does help put everyone's nerves at ease.

That will always be awkward if noone laughs

I'm all for it if you can do it without it coming across as forced. I don't have a set rule for if/when I'm going to try to be funny, I just kind of take advantage of the opportunities as they arise.

A small light moment can actually help. Interviews are conversations, not interrogations. I have found that a natural comment about the environment can ease tension, as long as it stays professional and brief.

Hi! Pretty new to this concept, and really early within my career (only 3 months in). Currently on my company’s 401k plan, contributing well beyond the minimum to receive a match, and maxing the amount I can put in right now (25%). Dabbled a bit in options and stocks in general. Any advice, guides, or starting places you would give someone in my shoes? Thank you in advance!

For those of you with high-functioning anxiety/depression/PTSD/OCD and similar diagnosed disabilities, how do you cope? What sorts of work accommodations do you receive or where have you found the best working environment? Is government a good place to be? Thank you so much in advance.

Hi fishes, I need some guidance.

I am currently into the SAP Security domain and I absolutely do not have any interest in it. I am planning to shift to development and have started on some courses on my own.

My question is, is there any future prospects in SAP UI5 and Fiori? Since my background is in SAP, I assume it will make a domain switch easier.

Advice: my firm incentivized associates to get licensed in fed courts - 4 fed courts for a 5k raise. They also covered the admission fee. I just accepted an offer with another firm and will be putting in my 2 weeks notice tomorrow. Is it wrong to submit an expense report for the charges I incurred related to the fed court admission fees? I didn’t plan on moving to another firm; the new firm sought me out and made me an offer - the process happened so fast. I want to be professional about this.
