Looking for advice: I’m a Junior Copywriter graduating in May and looking to start a position in mid June - July. When is the right time to start applying?
So, I interviewed for this job that I really want and then it got put on hold. I checked back with them since it had been a month and they said it was still on hold and mentioned how it sucked because all their writers have been really busy and they needed the extra help. I don't really know how these things work but would it make sense to offer to help them as a part time freelance copywriter? Or if the budget isn't their for that position does freelance not work either?
Ad copywriter who’s freelancing outside of agency world, who do I ask for a reference/review from when finishing up a project? Project leader (who I had minimal interaction with) or day-to-day contact who is lower ranking but actually worked with me beyond the initial interview? At an agency I’d go straight to the CD, but this is a consultancy that doesn’t have that sort of structure.
First year copywriter. Was furloughed during Covid. Had an interview today with an agency that works mostly with the health and medical fields. The interview went well, but I’ve heard that medical copywriting is a creative death sentence. Does it make sense to take this job just to be employed and then try to wiggle back onto the more creative side of things later? Or should I stick it out until something else comes along?
I'm currently applying to a position at an agency independently and just got a call from my recruiter about a copywriter role for a different project at the same agency. I would take it if I don't get the first one but I'm a little confused as to what to do because the second one seems like it would start immediately but I don't want it as much as the first one. Any advice?
First interview with CDs went AMAZING! 2nd interview with senior CW and AD is next. What should I expect the conversations to include? Is this my opportunity to get a feel for the day-to-day?
Why do job applications for art directors have way more requirements than copywriters these days? I’m sick of being expected to not only art direct and design, but to be the illustrator, animator, editor, 3D artist, UX/UI designer, etc. all while my copywriter friends snag interviews and gigs left and right with ease bc hiring managers just expect them to do the 1 job they’re supposed to do! I need a job and I’m so so so tired of it!
interviewing for an in-house job and i have no idea what salary to ask for bc im assuming it’s higher than what you can get at an agency? the role is senior copywriter (i have 5 years experience) for a fashion brand in a coastal city, entails a lot of responsibility and managing junior writers. 100k??? idk!
Any tips on how to make a less traditional background (stand-up comedy, screenwriting MFA, TV development) stand out as a positive when applying to JR. CW jobs & CW internships?
hey all, I was wondering if anyone has any advice regarding professionally branding yourself with a partner as a copywriter/art director team? Have you had more success getting jobs as a team or solo? Also wondering how the application/interview process goes when looking for jobs as a professional partnership? I’ve come across a few AD/CW partners at my agency and would love some insight as to how this process goes.
BIPOC who started working in healthcare advertising and eventually were able to leave, how’d you do it? My spec book gets me interviews for junior and mid copywriter positions, but when they ask me what kind of work I’m doing at my current agency, the whole conversation goes south. They either become immediately disinterested, or beam up and suddenly the interview is only about an open pharma role, which is more frustrating because if I want to stay in health I’d go for copy supervisor roles.
What’s the upper limit you can ask for when applying for a mid-level CW job? Can you get $90k-$95k or is that more Sr?
Would anyone at DDB NYC be willing to look at my book and let me know if I’m currently good enough to apply for the open CW position? Applying elsewhere I’ve received wild feedback, ranging from “this is very good” to “you should burn the whole thing down.” I just want to get better without wasting anyone’s time or irritating recruiters at a place I’d like to eventually work.
I had an interview last week for a Jr CW job. All went well it seemed. The CCO’s exact closing words were “You’re gonna have a great career. Your ideas are good”. Additionally, a CD there I contacted on LinkedIn said the CCO liked my book. But he ended by telling me they’re still getting things sorted out and to follow up this week. Don’t know if this is a bad sign I won’t get it or if I’m just being insanely impatient and unrealistic.
I concept and write commercials. Me (and my art director) interview and hire directors for all our spots, make all casting decisions, oversee wardrobe, cast VO, direct VO, oversee art direction, color correction, sound design, choose and direct music. My title is Copywriter. Genuine question: Am I doing the job of a copywriter or a creative director?
What are copywriter salaries like right now? Lower than pre-COVID? About the same? Applying for jobs and wondering if I should lower my asking price because of budget cuts/layoffs. And I’m thinking LA, NY, and the Bay Area.
I just applied for a content writing job. What kind of questions can I expect in the interview as this is my first time interviewing for a non CW gig? Thank you😊
I got laid off in January and have been trying to find a new job since. I keep making it to the phone interview and sometimes a second interview, but always get ghosted. It’s so disheartening. I have too much experience for an internship, and I have too little to be the top choice for copywriter roles. I know I’m a good writer, I know what I’m capable of, but it’s so exhausting trying to convince people. They always like my book but it’s never enough to get the gig. What can I do?
This is a shot in the dark but here it goes: about 5 years ago I remember a freelance copywriter in the bay area published a great LinkedIn article that documented all his efforts to land gigs with a write up and a link to his Google sheets file where you could see rounds of interviews/progress. The obvious takeaway: job hunts are a volume play, but the visual proof really brought the point to life. Anyone happen to recall what I'm describing? If so can you post the link/individual?
I’ve been freelancing as a copywriter for seven years now, interviewing for a senior copywriter role at a smaller branding shop in SF. What’s a good salary range to aim for?
Hi, everyone. I’m copywriter looking to break into UX writing. I don’t have a lot of UX work in my portfolio. I’ve mostly worked on digital campaigns on social media and some website writing for brands. I’m wondering what I need in my portfolio to help me get a job as a UX writer. Is there anything specific I should include? Anything I should learn and prep for interviews? I don’t have money to go back to school unfortunately.
Had an interview where the agency said they don't do "junior / mid / senior" levels in their creative department. My CW and I are st that stage where that seniority is important for us and for our future progression. Is it one of those things that we fight for on the contract, or just sign anyway and just put "senior creative" on our LI title? I've never come across this before, so any experience or thoughts are appreciated.
After a good interview with the ECD and HR, my CW and I have been asked to come by to the office to meet the agency founders and have a beer with them. Is this just a final character / personality check? What should we expect during this kind of meeting?
Hate my job but 2 months away from sign on bonus what do I do? I already got it but in my offer letter it says they have the right to take it away if the year isn’t completed. I’m interviewing for a bunch of amazing roles and I think I’m 100% going to get this one I want but am worried they want the start date in a month or so. Do I just leave bc I hate it here or ask to stay up until my start date and slack off until then?
I have a final round interview with a Big 4 firm today. Could I request I start date of the end of august or beginning of September or is that pushing it? I would only start later if I can get a signed offer letter within a week for a later start date. I would start earlier if they say they will reach back out closer to the start date. I have been ghosted after getting a verbal offer the big 4 before...
Just got feedback from my MBB interview. So close, asked to come back in 6 months to try again 🤕
Does lowballing your salary expectations early on in an interview have any negative implications on total comp down the road? Or does this more serve to see if you and the company are aligned on a general range?
Have final interview for senior solution owner position at slalom build. Any advice for me? What should I focus more on?
Anyone else practicing casing for an MBB interview? I’m starting to interview with McKinsey and could really use a partner to practice with.
Is it typical for pwc to request an additional interview with a partner after having already met with multiple people in an in-office interview?
Interview next week for a fintech VP role (real VP reporting to CEO, not the fake traditional finance VP titles) and have no idea what target salary should be. Glassdoor is all over the place. Trying to crowdsource a reasonable number.
So I applied to a role but have realised there’s a better role in another department. The hiring manager called me and said I’ll hear back soon if an interview will happen with the role I applied to. Shall I let her know that I’m interested in the other role instead?
Is Deloitte hiring on H1B for transfer? Cleared 1st tech interview but recieved email from HR to confirm visa status. My fear is to get ghosted :)..GFS practice if that helps.

EY Interview: How long did it take to get news about the offer or rejection after the final interview? EY
Currently at a big 4 with 5 years of experience. No early promotion due to 2 transfers to different groups. Another big4 reached out about manager role and I’ve had 2 interviews. Spoke to an old coworker and they said this wasn’t common to get a promotion through big4 by moving. True? Worth to continue interviewing ?
Is it normal for firms to be ambiguous about titles during interviews? Firm says that specific title will be determined during interviews and may result in a lower title than one originally applied.
I was just offered to get a promoted offer (from AS to VP,AD) at a different company, but I have been wanting to transition off to non-advertising gigs especially pharma. Does it make sense to sign the new offer first and keep searching, or get out when I can out of advertising? I took the interview a while ago thinking I still wanted to be in advertising but had gradual shift in heart..
A recruiter reached out to me for a Program Analyst position at Google. The Job Description seems to require 4 years in consulting, but glassdoor salary for Program Analyst is not at that level at all (only $70-100k/year). Anyone can offer some insights on this position and the associated package? Just wanted to see if I should interview or save everyone's time. Thank you!

Which certificate do you think is better for landing a data scientist role at a late stage startup AWS Machine Learning or AWS Data Analytics?
I sent you those draft discovery responses a week ago! You didn’t get back to me until last night. And I flipped your edits ASAP so we could send it to the client today. (As promised!) Only you waited until after business hours to send me a bunch of stylistic edits disguised as substantive edits. Which I also flipped ASAP so you could send it to the client tonight. And now you’re picking stylistic nits instead of SENDING IT TO THE CLIENT. JUST. SEND IT. TO THE CLIENT. PLEASE. SEND. IT.
For people moving from PwC to EY, what’s the reason for your move? Does EY give you a significant raise which is more than the recent raise announced by PwC?

I might be pregnant (still too early to tell, my period is supposed to come on Fri) but I have appointment for first dose of Pfizer vaccine on Thu and not sure if I should just go ahead and take it. I live in the state where it’s hard to get an appointment and was very excited about getting it, but now worried mostly about fever as a side effect. Also can’t get appt with any of my doctors this week to ask them 😒 what would you do if you were in a similar situation?

What are some good cities to visit via flight for a weekend from Dallas and not in the south? Will also likely be a solo trip. I'm also a small woman so safe areas would be a plus
Got a 44 V / 44 Q on a recent GMAT practice exam. I was a finance major at a reputable state school and have mostly A’s (and a few B’s) in my quant heavy courses. If I score similarly on the real exam, is the high V enough to offset the lower Q? Applying to T10. I’m a white female if it matters and am trying do either consulting or tech (i.e. nothing super quant intensive).

For anyone that has tested during COVID, how safe did you feel during the testing process? I live with someone who is extremely high risk and we have been taking things very seriously - not leaving the house since March and getting groceries delivered.
