Currently an associate at a V30 and negotiating a partnership position at another V30. What is the correct way to maximize the pay in the negotiation as a lateral partner? 27F, 2nd year associate (no ambitions of being partner) - I’m depressed, anxious, stressed and just need a break. I’m at the point where I’m willing to quit with no other options, but want to see if theirs any safer way of taking a breath of life and grinding a little longer (I have loans, I financially support my parents, etc. ).

As a (class of 2020) second year whose several classmates from different groups are already thinking about leaving/going to other firms, should I explore other options too? Don’t know if they’re being dramatic about how bad it is or if I’m just drinking the koolaid in my group?

Any NYC big law firms heard anything about target hours being prorated this year? My firm has 2K target that was cut to 1800 in 2020 for Covid. So far no word on whether it will happen again, given that we’re still remote and challenges WFH (especially for associate parents) are still the same.

Do I accept a job position in an area that I’m unsure if I like because I haven’t really practiced in it as much but the pay is really good?
