Hi all, just found out I’m expecting a little one but I’m nervous about staying in public as I don’t think it’ll be beneficial once the kiddo is born with the late nights of busy season and stresses of the job. Is it worth it to look in industry? If so, would they get angry that I’ll basically go in maternity leave in 9 months? Also, if public is better- why? I just don’t see benefits of being in public anymore. Also, I’ve been a senior auditor for 1 busy season if that helps. Helpppp.

I make 95k a year, paid off all my debt and now have ~40k in savings (not including 401k). Currently living at home and think I want to rent an apartment now. Was looking to buy but I’m not ready/don’t think I make enough to do so in a HCOL area. Take home pay is about $5k after taxes. Is it dumb to get an apartment with $1.8k in rent? I think I can afford it, but curious to hear thoughts from others.

Should I, and if so, at what point, tell them that I’ve been laid off?

Would really appreciate your advice: pre-covid I was in talks to join 3 of the big 4. Covid happened and they decided not to move forward due to the uncertainty. Now, I have interviews with Guidehouse. I’m a BA at a no name org and would really like to move on. If I decide to go to Guidehouse, how easy/difficult would it be to go back to private sector consulting vs. public sector consulting, assuming I am doing private sector consulting now? WWYD?
