How does your company negotiate sick days? Do they pay you for them or do you have them unpaid? What are your companies rules?

Ive worked in 2 companies where 1 of them paid you for the occasional sick day, another company where you had it unpaid or used as holiday - I’m curious 😊

We don’t negotiate that, everyone gets 8 fully paid sick days per year. They don’t roll over to the following year, but can be used for caring for sick dependents as well.

At my place, the first few days are fully paid but anything longer needs a doctor's note. It feels fair, but the admin side always makes me dread calling in sick more than being sick!

Oh my god yes that’s my pet hate, don’t know what it is about it but I always feel bad for ringing in sick and fear of them thinking I’m faking it even though I’m not, don’t know why but I hate doing it haha

YOE: 11.5 Tech: QA Automation with Selenium-Java, BDD, API automation, Mobile Automation - Perfecto cloud, Appium. All the 11 years I am with automation only. Is it possible for me to learn new technology and switch. Recently acquired AWS cloud practitioner certification which is of no use to me now as they are asking for exp. I wanted to move to devops role. But without experience no one is giving opportunity and they are considering my profile as QA only 😒

I started out as a graphic designer. Worked for about 4yrs in different roles. Then i started a digital design role for 2 yrs and then made my transition into ux. i have been in a ux role for 5 years. But i want to steer my career towards something more creative. Like in 5-10 years I wouldn’t want to be a specialist or a ux director. I d like to be an art director or creative director. I love branding & marketing but also product. Would love something that allows me to do both?
