It’s not just you—“entry level” has definitely turned into “already trained but underpaid.” A lot of places want experience without investing in training, which makes starting out way harder than it should be. You’re right, the ladder really does feel like it’s been pulled up.

Not just you. "Entry level" only refers to pay now. They still want the experience, they just don't want to pay for it.

They all want someone with several years of experience. It’s unfortunate because you can’t get experience without experience.
It’s definitely a competitive market. Especially with all the job layoff and lack of job growth that administration is supporting or not. It may be time to pivot and apply to a variety of jobs.
I know it’s not how it should be but start as a hostess and work your way up. Or lie on your resume lol
