What’s it like being an operations analyst? What would you say is the best part of the job vs. the worst part?

A lot depends on the operations.

The best is that any operation is relatively complex with multiple moving parts.

The worst is that when something goes wrong it may also be urgent and complex.

Thank you! This is such a helpful answer

Operations analyst profile invioves following a lot of SOPs on daily basis. You may be the first point of contact for your project if something goes wrong in the live process. You will have to do same work everyday.

Strongly recommend automating repetitive requests.

Find a reporting tool, or build one, as repetition is a waste. You may be screwed if the automation breaks, but still not as bad as doing every manual thing by hand every day.(unless you just DGAF)

Feel like I am potentially on the verge of developing tendonitis / carpal tunnel. I try to keep my (standing) desk ergonomically aligned but the reality is that I spend 8-14 hrs a day typing (and, probably, tense) and I’m concerned about rendering myself physically unable to do this job. Anyone dealt with this?

What’s the best way to turn down a 2nd interview? During the 1st interview, I learned that the compensation for the role is not within the range that I am looking for and requires 400 more billable hours a year than what I bill now. I’d basically be laterally for my current salary just to bill 400 more hours. I also wasn’t aware that the local office was strictly ID. Firm website advertises lots of practice areas. Any advice? TIA!

When is it appropriate to follow up after an interview for a lateral position? Just cannot get into my job lately. I don’t know if it’s the hormones, the upcoming FET transfer next week, or if I’m truly just over my company. I’ve been there 5 1/2 years. I started out as an executive assistant and last year I created a path for myself for communications. Almost a year into the role, a new manager was brought on, to my surprise. She is great, but I’m finding I don’t have enthusiasm for this role at all. I don’t think I have a choice to go back to being an executive assistant

Do companies sometimes offer "gifts of appreciation" if you're not selected for a merit increase? My manager randomly called me to let me know I was chosen for the "gift" this year bc of my "hard work & dedication", except now I'm learning other colleagues are receiving actual merits.
I mean it's possible that I may receive a merit, but I feel like I won't considering my manager never brought it up & the dept update made it sound like those receiving it should know by now.

I have an offer for a company abroad. Originally they wanted me to fly out and start the day after Thanksgiving (not celebrated in their country), but because of the holidays I suggested starting in either December or January with the ability to take some holiday days in December to fly back home for Christmas. They then proposed starting out remotely “as soon as possible” in the US as a contractor and then moving abroad to start full time abroad. (Cont)

Hi all, looking for advice.

I'm a technical writer with background in the hardware and healthcare industry. What would be a better option for me, pivoting into software tech writing or project management.

Which one pays better/is better (any advice appreciated, must be fully remote role)

If software tech writing, does anyone have advice on how to break into a role or learn what it takes to become one?

For PM, I got a cert (not PMP) and am trying to decide which of these two I go with.

Hello people, how common is a Amazon to PWC move ?
I’m interviewing for a Senior Associate role and TC seems to be more competitive than role in L5.

TC $114k- Base AMZ- $73k +$38kstocks ( vesting 17k$ due next year)

TC $135k Base PWC -$81$ + Bonuses ( 50k$)

Looking for managerial skills which the PWC role avails, and L6 promo doesn’t seem to be happening soon in current role. I’m also mentally stretched. I hear WLB in PWC is just as busy but can anyone confirm if this move makes any sense. Google Amazon
