Still need engineers to design the robots….
I think things will become more automated, but I dont think engineering can be completely replaced by robots and AI... things like stress analysis are just too situational to be automated. I don't think FEA systems could ever be reliable enough without engineers double-checking and adjusting things
Not for a while, in my opinion. AI is a little bit overhyped, but definitely not ready to fully replace anybody yet. In fact, I think ME is a lot safer than many other industries.
Anyone who is in STEM should hop on utilizing AI to leverage their job. Use AI to improve productivity, learn to create AI, learn to speak in AI (code).
If your job can be outsourced to a different country for cheap it can definitely be replaced by AI.
Not a bad choice. Product management or even engineer consultants is not too far from your current experience. Good luck to you! Burn out sucks but im sure there are better days ahead.

Opportunities are available if you look hard enough. Of course, you have to target specific industry. Defense (or I what I refer to as Weapons) still need engineers and actually paid quite well. Commercial Aerospace is still hiring. Space industry is also hiring as the space race is on again. Unfortunately (or fortunately), these require citizenships.
