I'm an introverted person, like to keep to myself, focus on work, spend the rest of my time on family, gym etc. I've been told that I need to work on my communication and client relationship building skills. any books I can read? I don't follow pop. culture anymore, no longer actively follow team sports (but sporty myself) as I consider it bread and circus for the masses and don't rly enjoy work drinks... Am I doomed? Personally I am happy and love the work but fear for my career progression.

I am currently well settled in Oracle ERP skill with good role but this Data Engineering role seems like good opportunity to transition to DE roles. I am at a small firm with great WLB and no billable hour requirements. We only write down time that is truly billable to the client, and I bill about 1500 hours. I am considering going to a larger firm, and all of them (obviously) have requirements that are more than 1500. I’m sure it varies by firm, but are there categories of time that would not necessary be billable to the client but may count to your requirements? For example, pro bono, professional development, CLEs, etc? Wishful thinking?
