I've been feeling pretty unmotivated and uninspired these last few months. Just going through the motions when it comes to work, especially. How do you find ways to recharge and stay motivated?

Try therapy, with a great therapist. It may take trial and error to eventually find your good fit but it's worth it. It can end up radically changing your life. It's made me a better person with clearer vision and more fervent motivation.

Today I was walking back to the hospital from my car some random guy came up to me and asked me for directions while I was still in the lot. I'm new so I told him I didn't know and he literally cussed me out in the parking lot and told me I was a horrible nurse and he was going to get me fired. Meanwhile I am a PHARMACIST. And before you ask yes he was.

Hey Bowl,
I work for a late stage(ipo) start up, earlier this year we were acquired & since then they got rid of our yearly bonuses and gave us an ESOP grant.
2 RIFs later we are almost bare bones. Since we are coming up on our usual yearly evaluations many of us assumed (with multiple conversation from our managers) that pay raises and promotions were due.
In a recent All hands we found out that this year there will be no pay raises nor promotions based off merit. Is it time to jump ship?

My partner, a travel agent and reservations specialist, was displaced over a year ago when COVID hit. She has booked millions worth of product and it’s been painful to witness her recovery in finding a job she’s happy with.

Any recommendations for people like her? I suggested starting her own business as a travel consultant assisting other travel companies with their bookings, etc.

She’s incredibly talented and I’d appreciate any ideas I could relay to her. Thanks!

My fiancé’s family has a vacation planned at the end of June in Florida (small beach town about 45 mins from PCB). We’d be flying from California if we decide to attend. His family doesn’t seem concerned (ugh whole other story) and the “rules” in Florida are relatively relaxed now (restaurants open etc). I want to go for sanity reasons, but feel like it seems foolish too. What would y’all do? Just wait and see?

First time home buyer here. Currently waiting to close and trying to make a list of everything I want/need when going from an apartment to a house. Think I have all my basic tasks written down regarding canceling accounts, changing address, etc. Also started a list of tools and necessities for upkeep of house/lawn. Also looking at useful things like smart home devices, kitchen tools, automatic soap dispenser. What are the nice to have and splurge type purchases that have made your life better?

Hi everyone - I'm contemplating an offer from a large PI firm. I'm a little more than halfway through completing my 2nd year of practice, and I'm currently at a small firm with a low salary that's just no longer cutting it.

The offer from the large firm is for a pre-suit position, base salary of $100K - is this salary pretty standard for this kind of position?

Any insight is appreciated, thank you!!

I received a job offer from a PI firm (MVA and tractor trailer cases) in Houston, Texas; the bonus proposed was 2.5% of attorney’s fees for any cases settled each quarter. We are assigned 50 cases a quarter and the top attorney clears $25K each quarter. This is my first time working at a PI firm. Can anyone share any guidance? Is 2.5% industry standard? Is it realistic to settle/resolve that many cases? I am trying to learn more about this niche before I counter-offer and attempt to negotiate.

For Plaintiff's attorneys, how big is your caseload? What kind of cases are the majority of them and are they in suit? I am currently handling 150+ mostly MVAs and premise liability cases, just about all in suit, (on top of about 10 DUIs and other small traffic matters) and I feel like I'm drowning and looking to jump ship. What is normal/to be expected? In NYC area if that matters

Hello All,
I am finishing up my second year of practice as a lawyer. I transitioned to plaintiffs pi work from a boutique commercial litigation firm. I like the work and not having to bill. The issue I am having is managing volume. I have about 150 active files some pre-lit and the rest are in litigation. Cases range in value from very small to low six figures. I also take the driver seat for the grunt work on the firms bigger cases which are at or near 7 figure value. I constantly feel (cont.)

I'm a 6th year attorney in NYC. Strictly defense work; started out with the City Law Dept, did a year and a half of med mal/construction, and for past year and a half have been at a well known defense firm working on high exposure construction accident cases. Contemplating taking a couple interviews at plaintiff's firms to see if there is a good fit.
