Apply for jobs RIGHT NOW. Like polish up that resume this weekend. Screw your boss, they suck! From this post, that's terrible leadership, and they don't deserve your work.
You haven't been looking since July? Why even allow yourself to be in that position?
Asking with kindness, why would you want to stay? Do you think the culture will change for the better?
Understandable. Are there other options (contracting, etc.) that can show continuity but also get you out? Those kind of environments take a terrible toll. Sorry you are dealing with this.
Why are you still there? Do you have difficulty getting a new job?

This has been going on for 6 months and you still haven’t left? Start looking for a new job like yesterday
Don’t let them push you out, stick it out until you find something else regardless if you have the means to quit. If they want to fire you, let them. Take that severance package. Don’t let them get the best of you. If you quit you are doing exactly what they want.
Time to make a quick exit and go to a temp agency
Highly sus post. I am sorry.

As soon as possible. I had an employer do this and eventually they did fire me, and I was unemployed for a long time. It's really difficult to convince someone to hire you when you aren't working already. Get out as soon as you can.
This is the only thing that keeps me in my seat.
From my past experience, these are usually not just “threats”, especially when paired with something like an actual PIP (true performance related) or attitude related conflict with other co-workers.
No one is entitled to severance in at-will employment states. Not sure if there are even states that aren’t “at-will”. Severance is a way to shut people up that may have had cases for wrongful termination. And, to get people to comply with anything they need during that timeframe.
They can essentially say whatever they want in a severance agreement, like how you can’t tell anyone you weren’t on a PIP but were let go, or how you even received some type of a severance payment to begin with, and if they find out you breeched the agreement, they can come after you for the severance they paid you and then some.
Your employer might be trying to get you to quit so they don’t have to have the optics internally about “firing” you. But there’s also some (a very small amount) of decency in that where you’re not dropped on the drop of a dime and you can’t say it was totally unexpected. It sounds like they’ve warned you and the ball is in your court on how you’ll react—whether you’ll stay and see if you can change their mind, or whether you’ll quit before they fire you.
But regardless, if I were being told what you are, I would see it as a sign that it’s time to move on.
I’m not in the US. They have to pay me severance.
This is a tactic employers use to move people who they don't want for whatever their reasons are. Its a form of harassment and is unprofessional as hell. If you dont want to stay there I totally get wanting out- but if you have built a career there and don't want to leave then start asking for these "threats" in writing. Don't sign anything. Keep track of these threats and then fight fire with fire. With that in writing and little action on their part you can go after them with a harassment case. Now all that being said, that is a lot to have to do in order to stay. What are the pros of staying? Leaving? so on. Good luck- I hope it works out for you
