USI Insurance brokerage and consulting - thoughts? A recruiter reached out to me via linked in and I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on this company. They seem to have decent reviews on Glassdoor but I was hoping to get more insight into workload and comp. Thanks in advance! USI

Generally firings happen early in the week so you haven't left without supports over the weekend

What happened??? We need an update.
As someone who just got recently laid off, and has friends that have been recently fired, there’s no way to predict. Employers are extremely unpredictable and unprofessional these days. Good luck to you and to give advice that was given to me, don’t stress about tomorrow. You can only control yourself. But be prepared for the worst. I have seen hundreds of people lose their jobs in recent months. Happy new year!
Please tell me you've got some more context that would make this not seem like a legitimate possibility. How have things been going at work? Any shift in attitude from your boss that'd make you think it's coming? If there's nothing you can think of, I wouldn't get despondent just yet. Could just be a random thing and he just didn't think through how anxiety-inducing scheduling it without providing any additional context would be.
I don’t know if you work at a large or a small company, but I can tell you for the company that I worked for we never let go on a Friday. It was just a rule because it was the last thing that a person did at the end of the week and then they had the weekend to steam on it and the company had just learned thatpeople reacted better when it wasn’t on a Friday.
More likely it's that they're leaving - unless you work for a small company that's still in the dark ages and thinks it's better to give folks a weekend to rage.
Please come back and tell us how it went.
Usually firing meetings happen with HR present. Is HR CC'd / invited ?
They are usually bcc'd so as not to tip the person off.
I have not really heard of someone having a meeting scheduled to be fired and especially with two days' notice.
Do you feel that your productivity has been deserving of being fired? Is you company doing that bad financially?
In 2025, when my last company decided to close and lay people off that was done on a Friday early afternoon although there was not a meeting scheduled and it was supposedly an abrupt decision to close that same day.
In early 2009, a company I was at went through 3 or 4 layoffs before I got cut and the day to look out for was Thursdays which the layoffs would happen in the early morning hours.
Honestly, even with the bad economy, I would not read too much into it.

Agree the two days notice is the giveaway that they are not being fired.
