3rd party recruiter who set up my interview with a company has gone MIA. They are not answering emails or call. She sent the invite but we were supposed to have a pre interview thing before the interview. It’s giving me the feeling that A. The CFO is not going to show or B. I have no chance. I told the recruiter that I had previously interviewed with the company like 2 years ago but they hadn’t settled on a WFH policy and I didn’t want to move forward as I wasn’t committed to living in the area.

On a project right now where I am the only senior with 3 staff under me. There is a manager and director but the manager is very uninvolved and the Director is slammed - I’ve essentially been left to run the project. My issue is the 3 staff are completely MIA (Director and Manager knows) - they don’t respond to emails, Teams messages, meeting invites, etc. What would you do in this situation? Cold call them and tell them to work? Call their direct boss?

How do others deal with CDs who constantly leave you hanging? I’m paired semi-frequently with a CD to lead work and they’re often MIA for meetings and client presentations with zero notice beforehand or apology afterwards. It’s rude and obvious that my accounts aren’t a priority for them. And then at the most inconvenient times, they jump in with opinions that are completely at odds with the direction I’ve given. Is there a tactful way to bring this up?

Is 1.5 hrs enough of a layover at AMS to pass thru passport control? Flying from MIA and connecting from AMS to MAD. Thanks

I am the “solution architect” on a client engagement that is going totally sideways. We are in serious budget and time issues and the client is mad at us and their executive leadership has gotten involved and my upper management has been grilling our implementation team daily on details. The thing is, it was never really the implementation teams fault, this project was grossly underscoped and the PM has been MIA for most of the project. Management says it’s not our fault but can I get sacked?

I only have to bill 17 more hours before October 31 to hit bonus but all the partners have hit hours and are MIA. 😭

For some reason, many of the partners in my group have been increasingly MIA over the last few weeks. I have been covering for all but am feeling burned out and frustrated at the fact that they hand off all of the work to me and are slow to respond or even answer questions. Am I wrong to be annoyed? Senior associate has been MIA all week and left the team to cover 4 major briefs/court deadlines on his cases (not mine) that he had not started. At first, he was only texting me saying he wasn’t coming in, which made me the middle person between him and the managing partner. I could tell by his texts he was struggling with something mentally, he was letting his personal life interfere with work, and lashing out. I started a MSJ response cont. in comments

My recommender has been totally MIA and doesn’t respond to texts. What do you do in this situation? I thought it was someone I could count on, we were close enough to hang out outside of work and had a good relationship. Don’t know why they would act this way…

Keep in mind I recently (5months ago) switched service lines. I have two projects im taking over from a high performer who is being rotated off. He was MIA this week. Unfortunately him being MIA coincided with both the projects having fairly complex deliverables due. I did my best to help out - both senior mgrs kinda took it over. Should I have done more ?

Am I a needy gf if I expect my bf to text every 3-4 hours? Often, he is MIA for 12-20 hours because he is “concentrating” on his work. I work long hours myself but text every few hours. He wants me to understand because he is really busy and that’s how he gets stuff done but not sure if I should put up with such

My CD is pretty MIA 90%+ of the time, but still expects all work to come via them before it can go for review.

While that's pretty standard practice, the constant disappearing act leaves me in a pretty shitty position. I've found myself drastically cutting down my creative time to make sure there is ample time for approval, only for it to be sitting in their inbox for a week + with zero feedback.

I've tried explaining to them the impact this bottle neck is having on me but nothing. Help!

Associate for 8 months. I don’t think I have the support on my engagements that I feel like I need. In July there was a two week period where, it’s either my seniors and managers had left the firm, my senior was MIA and there was no manager assigned or my senior was OOO,also my engagements are understaffed and I’ve just been feeling overwhelmed. I love my job and I love this firm, but I want to explore a different big 4. I have an offer for a TC2 Position at Deloitte. Is it any different there?

Has anyone ever had a series of can you handle this/ run this meeting as a young attorney turn into you running the whole deal…. Senior attorneys are there for questions but otherwise MIA from the deal.

How do you go about project managing a dumpster fire of a project? Lead technical consultant is MIA, the juniors are not proactive and when I distribute work to them, they are consistently late. Also I am not the SME of the topic we’re consulting for and don’t have anyone to go to for technical guidance (since they’re always MIA). I’m drowning.

As a junior, how do you deal with a mid-level who goes MIA for hours during time sensitive matters and leaves you trying to figure out what to do? Edit: this isn’t a one time thing either. I’ve now worked on multiple deals with this person and I find it incredibly rude and stressful.

Scenario: W takes out a HELOC against a property owned by W and H (with Hs permission). W stops paying in 2020, then W and H starts their divorce proceeding a few months later. Now the HELOC is set to foreclose this month. Bank won’t allow H to pay the HELOC or get any info without Ws permission. W is MIA.

What are your favorite guilty pleasure movies?

For me it's musicals and a few dance movies. Mamma Mia 1 and 2, Rock of Ages, the Step Up series, the 2011 Footloose, the Greatest Showman, and both the '95 10th Anniversary Les Mis concert and '10 25th anniversary concert (preference given to '95).

My wife doesn't get musicals at all and thinks I'm bonkers when I watch one, but I can watch 'em anytime, anywhere and they take me to my happy place!

MIA or LA? All things equal, what is your preference?

Our firm requires us to be 3x/week in the office, but it hasn’t been enforced so far. Today I overheard a partner at his phone going on about how associate X has been MIA for 3 weeks, that associates shouldn’t need a nanny to comply with policy, and that if they need to let someone go X would be 1st in line. Is this a trend?

This job is fucking annoying. Some partners are micromanagers, some are MIA. Many times they flip between the two. Damned if I take initiative, damned if I don’t. We aren’t mind readers.
