My mate in Wales was telling me how excited he is about the new trains. Said it will genuinely change his day to day life.
It made me realise I barely think about that side of things when I look at jobs. Do you think more about lifestyle and less about just the role itself?

If your friend commutes on the trains, and the new ones are a big improvement, I could understand them saying it will change their life. I used to commute via public transportation from Brooklyn to Manhattan and the quality of the trains mattered. It never affected my preferences of a job, really, as it was just a given that the time on the subway was part of daily life.

I get that, but I think we normalise things that actually impact us a lot. Commute, environment, even small daily frictions add up. I have started factoring lifestyle in more because the role alone does not carry the whole experience.
