My salary has only increased by $1,500 over the past two years. The CFO thinks this is totally reasonable, so it appears most people on the staff have seen similar increases. But it doesn't sit right with me. Am I being gaslit here or should I be happy with this tiny increase?

You shouldn't be happy about an amount that doesn't move the needle at all for you. That said, this is a trend right now. Companies across the board are offering less and less each year. At this point we're expected to be happy with receiving anything at all.

If you’re happy with those increases then you’re a sucker. Get out now. Start looking for a new job.

My pay has gone up $1.50 in the past two years and I’ve been looking for a new job for the past year. Companies will pay the execs high salaries but refuse to pay those that are in the trenches for them each week.

I haven’t gotten any increases in over two years… I’m not saying you should be happy and settle for what you got, but just know that there’s people getting nothing. Find another company that will value you.

Raises have been stuck in the low single digits for a while. And some companies probably aren't giving any raises. Even against that background, your raise seems like a signal to get serious about finding a better position elsewhere.

There were substantial layoffs at firm and management has denied, saying they were performance related (mostly bullshit). They have not ruled out [further] layoffs in the future.

I don’t want to lose my job, and it would absolutely suck. But I almost feel numb and hard to even get too worked up over the prospect given how emotionally exhausting this year has been. Maybe bcz I feel somewhat safe, but I feel like if it happens, it does, and I’ll find a way to recover/move on.

I have a partner who routinely ignores emails or responds to them several weeks later. He has to approve every single document sent to the client or the court, which means you have a physically go to his office to ask him to review something. Half of the time you go to meet with him in person, he’s either on a call or otherwise busy. I find that this basically creates more work and makes meeting deadlines extremely difficult. Is this normal?
