Plan to live close to work. Sitting for an hour in traffic in the morning and afternoon is a royal waste of time. you can also live near a train line and see if you can take that to work -
Not sure about agency for you but neighborhoods are all pretty great for different things. Mostly you should look for the type of home and lifestyle you want and then very high importance is how long are both of your commutes. I live only 13 miles from my office but takes me well over an hour each way
Los Angeles is an agency wasteland, save for three shops.
Seems like most agencies are near Santa Monica/Venice. Is that accurate and if so any neighborhoods in that area I should check out?

Fairfax/Beverly is a great neighborhood. Very walkable
