Thoughts on Netflix culture?
AWS cloud application architect. Had an on-site interview with AWS a few days ago and just got an email saying they want to talk to me about next steps. The role is cloud application architect but I want to ask them about the senior cloud application architect role. I have all the relevant experience for that role and feel like I’d be a better fit for that senior role. How should I approach this conversation? Is this even possible? Amazon

Am i the only one who thinks this is mean and your tech lead needs to learn how to give constructive criticism
Depends on their dynamic. If shots back and forth like this are common and understood, I don’t see an issue. If it was coming right out the gate guns blazing out of nowhere, then yeah it’s being a jerk.

Sometimes it is better to be told things like that, really does mean they actually care or what to see you succeed because they are pushing you to do better. Even though it is never fun to have your skills questioned! Just brush yourself off and back on the horse you go!
I agree, I had a lead early in my career that would just give me answers to everything or do it himself. This lead is making me learn how to learn.
I would much rather have than over a softie who does everything for me or sugar coats it. Have had both kinds and have always acceled much faster with direct, and sometimes "hurtful", feedback. But I suppose everyone is different.
