Yes. They held that person accountable. Not sure exactly what they did with her in terms of discipline. She eventually was let go. If you haven’t already, start keeping a paper trail of everything.
I second keeping a paper trail, include dates & times, witnesses (if any), situation, location, and anything you think relevant.
Not me, but a co-worker on a different team about a mutual supervisor. It took a LOT—multiple employees leaving and specifically naming her in their exit interview as a reason for leaving, and one employee giving multiple complaints of the same type of treatment. Then they STILL put her on a PIP and gave her 90 days. Total time from first complaint to her being fired was like 6-7 months.
Sheesh. I only laugh because it’s that or cry. But like why am I not surprised? I’ve worked with several managers who I have no idea how they’ve kept jobs with the way they mistreat people
I personally wouldn’t go to HR concerning your unprofessional manager. HR doesn’t have to keep your conversations confidential. In turn HR goes to your manger about the allegations. Your manager can lie, and or manipulate the situation.
Make sure you save every email/convo. It can be tricky when HR is involved. Sometimes they'll even ask you to speak together.
Yes. HR said, “okay, you can file a complaint.” And did nothing of it. The situation was horrible (being told I was going to be fired daily, retaliation tactics, constantly being yelled at in front of other employees to the point that I was made to cry) for me and others. Once I was put into an unethical situation and screamed at by my manager for doing the right thing, I wrote my resignation letter and left without two weeks notice. I have never looked back but definitely have trauma/anxiety about work from it now!
Thought about it but never had the guts to fully go for it. I talked to coworkers but never went above my boss. I was young though, and wouldn't do that if it happened again.
My co worker Complained about our manager and HR in turn fired that employee.
I have had to do this before. One of my supervisors kept making passes at me. It made me uncomfortable and I would tell him I don't think what he was doing was appropriate and he would laugh and stop for maybe a day but didn't stop. I went to HR to make a complaint.
I think the bottom line is in mask companies that if the manager is a jerk and making them money then that’s all the company is going to be concerned about
I went to the compliance to him and it was a sham and they called the unit I worked on and asked for me and described themselves as the compliance team so immediately all of my coworkers were wondering what was up. I ended up getting fired for some stupid thing from that job and yet I was trying to report something that was a matter of patient safety with my boss Who was training me, had way less experience than me as a nurse, And did not act appropriately on behalf of the patient when she turned gray and screamed that she was dying after my boss gave her her new psych medication.
That was a nightmare in the patient survived I told her the truth about everything and I lost my job and that’s ok. That’s just one example of how going to the appropriate channels in a company doesn’t necessarily mean that will be a good outcome.
I myself would rather report it and walk away or at least be comfortable walking away if it doesn’t work out on my behalf.
I did. They pretended to be on my side.
I once worked at a factory where my manager was dating someone in corporate but my female manager was a complete flirt and would talk about what she likes sexualy to the male employees and let them take extra breaks but get mad when an attractive female just wanted to go to the restroom so I gave her corporate boyfriend a heads up about his girlfriend and he did some investigating and quickly broke up with her.
I have and they talked to manager privately, and he scolded me for going to HR. I got the impression that HR is there for protecting company’s best interest, not the employees (within reason, of course). They likely told him if he did x,y,z he would be in trouble so not to cross that line.
I would press the matter but it’s clear my organization isn’t changing and I’m job hunting.
I have and only to be brought in by the manger and she tried to embarrass me by calling me a liar in front of HR. They both even made sure they knew they had each other's back. I quit that same day. I knew I wasn't going to win that battle. As a minority it's hard to speak up. she was abusing her power. Snatching papers from my hands and was very rude. Unprofessional and inconsiderate. She knew I had kids and would always try to make me pick my job before my kids and this was during COVID.
It was pointless
I did but it didn’t do anything. Just depends on your hr staff. I saw someone say go collectively have everyone email the situation and ask to speak in person because it’s just easier that way. Definitely try though! Good luck
HR didn’t do a damn thing 🤷🏽♀️
Talk to whoever is above this manager before talking to HR.
