Over 40 is old? No, 90 is old. 40 is experienced. The only reason it’s branded as “old” is the downward pressure on salaries so max money be squeezed up the very “old” farts in the C-suite adding a yacht dock to their 3rd home. Facts.

I spoke alongside Walter at the 3% conference last year and spent a good amount of time with him. Legit good dude. IMO If there was a 40 over 40 or 50 over 50 it should feature non-executive level talent only. Otherwise it’ll be Droga, Goodby, Susan Credle etc. there’s plenty of really talented producers, strategists, media, ACDs etc. still working in agencies getting it done. We have to change the norm that you have to grab the brass ring or you’re out at a certain age. And showcase those who’ve been in the business two decades and who’ve adapted to the shift in media landscape etc. it’s totally possible. You have to put aside your fear and go for it. Don’t be afraid to ask questions,

You are absolutely right!

I love that people are talking about it. But Honoring those over 40 and 50 doesn’t help the ageism issue. Labor Laws need to change and more accountability measured.

im 10 weeks into my contract as a PO at a large satelline/wireless provider (synonym: plate) and the company has offered to bring me on as an internal employee.

currently i am hourly contractor at a rate of $50/hr + 2k sign on

the salaried offer is for 104k ( $52/hr)/ no bonus

problem here is that i work 48-52hrs/wk & get paid overtime, so taking this offer would actually be a paycut by about $250-300/wk

how / what should i negotiate as a fair compensation package
