A recruiter reached out for an assistant director of strategy role for a company I’d really like to work for. Requirements say “Strong analytical experience working with large data sets and building models in Excel·” but I don’t have modeling experience. Should I still take the call or would that be a deal breaker?
Serious question. My 3ish year plan is to make SM then move to industry for (hopefully) a director role. The company I’m eyeing up happens to be one my practice is trying to get a foot in the door. Do I tell them my leadership my 3 yr plan in hopes to garner their support in getting me the experience I need to get that role? Or do I keep it hush hush.
Anyone have a recent Canadian ad salaries survey they can share? Or the APG Canada Salary Survey that still hasn’t been shared publicly yet? Worked to the bone and underpaid, and since no one seems to be hiring planners atm, trying my best to get paid (at least closer to) what I’m worth and any evidence of salary bands per title helps. Thanks
Hello friends! I started my MC position at a big 4 in August and looking to switch to a smaller strategy firm this year. Anyone have experience jumping ship with less than 1 year experience? thanks!
Any firms hiring in Istanbul? I'm a US citizen but also have a turkish passport. Would love to work in Istanbul for a few years. I speak conversational Turkish
How much are your monthly expenses, everything included? It would be helpful to include your position and location.
Anybody here ever get “tested” for your job position in any creative ways? I’m hiring and want to gauge strategic digital thinking
Masters student with almost 2 years of experience between bachelors and masters. What position should I be at?
Client requested drug screening prior to engagement start. Can I decline the role upfront to avoid uncomfortable conversation downstream, or am I obligated to as per employee contract?
Is it just me or are agencies loading up on commitment-free permalancers rather than hiring permanent staff? Is this a cost-saving measure, or things are even more project-based than they appear?
What is the worst experience you’ve ever had with Uber/ Lyft? I just got dropped off on the side of the freeway (near an exit thankfully) in the rain, on the way to the airport. Because (contd)
How often do you spend worrying if the project your on today is providing you the skills/experience needed for your dream exit/goal?
Has anyone transitioned to MSFT into non-software engineer roles? Did you feel that a referral was critical in getting noticed or not? Found an interesting role, but haven't had much luck in the past
Just got staffed on my first engagement. The PM is letting us choose our roles. Should I pick the easiest role and guarantee I do well or pick one of the harder roles - have no idea how to do.
120k for a senior analyst role at a startup in Bay Area. Does it sound reasonable considering the high living cost?
Guidehojse folks- recruiter reached out to me about an experienced associate position. Little bit confused how this fits in with the associate -> senior associate -> manager model.
Got offered a job for another firm I don’t want to work for, but the comp is much better than what I currently receive. Best way to leverage this and approach my current firm for a raise?
Who’s better for life sciences consulting, MBB or smaller shops like Clearview, LEK etc.? How does the type of work differ?
There’s a role posted 3 days ago which already 100+ people applied for it. I wanted to connect with my network/someone from that company/role to chat and potentially get a referral. This, however, will take at least a week or two. Should I just submit application w/o referral given that there are already a lot of ppl applying and the role might be filled?
Post-MBA people in this bowl - for those of you who went to a top 20 program, did you use an admissions consultant? If so, which consultancy? Value add?
There’s at least 3 dead flies lying around my hotel room, and 3 more flying around. Big flies, not fruit flies...I changed rooms. Is this worth asking for points?
The quality of the posts in this bowl went down so much along with the market. Let me start a new topic : what is your opinion on DAG coins esp Bytecoin vs normal blockchain coins?
In industry. Was just verbally promised a significant (20-25%) comp increase plus title change to manager. I was originally planning on attending grad school in the fall (have accepted admittance to a top school for a masters non-mba). Now very unsure given clear upward trajectory where I am. Any help on how to think this through would be appreciated
Has anyone been able to just focus on client work in first year as a new hire Consultant without getting involved in initiatives off the bat? How big of an impact on your performance is not doing them
Part of me wants marriage and a more traditional relationship (husband as breadwinner or 50/50, 60/40). The other part is like F all that, who wants to justify bringing clothes, purses, shoes, and my tech gadgets back home after splurging my income away (not literally, but you get the point). Literally saw my coworker trying to hide the fact she had online orders from her husband and she’s the bread winner. Is this what marriage is like? Have a glorified financial baby sitter?
If you transfer to an internal role do you still need to pay back signing bonuses (no tuition reimbursement)? Contract states resign/terminated.
I’m feeling extremely lonely lately. All of my friends are in relationships and I feel super left out. I honestly don’t even know how to meet people anymore since I’m living with my parents now.
