Seeking Advice ….. I am interviewing for a start up and they need me to work on a PM strategy Take Home project as part of the interview process. How can one be different if we all are going through the same chat gpt ideas. I bring decent industry experience and can add details from it but definitely nothing against chat gpt.

You answered your own question. Your industry experience IS the differentiator. Anyone can ask ChatGPT for a generic PM strategy framework. What they can't get is your specific experience with what actually worked, what failed, and why. Pull examples from real situations you've dealt with. Name specific challenges, reference real numbers where you can, and tie your strategy back to things you've actually seen play out. That's what makes you different from the AI gurus.

I use chat for for ideas to tweak my thoughts. Once you get the feedback you can review and may come up with additional thoughts or ideas to provide a better response. They may be looking for how you will communicate your results.

That’s helpful and was my hunch too ! Thank you

If other people are going to be relying on an AI tool to do their work, therein lies your edge. See what ChatGPT or Gemini come up with as a brainstorming exercise. Who knows, an AI tool might remind you of something worth noting. Write your project relying on your own experience so it's obviously not created by a glorified web scraper. Remember, AI tools mimic things, and they can be good at it, but they can't think. You can think and that's your edge.

So as we were the first to get hit with COVID in NY, we are seeing declines in numbers now. Travelers are cut short of their contract, our hours are getting cut, and staffs are laid off. Got a call yesterday from HR that now staffs need to file for unemployment to compensate for the lost hours. We risked our lives for this fight, now they are letting us go. Shit’s fucked.

Offering advice to job seekers who go around recruiters and message hiring teams, execs, etc. You are putting the Recruiters job in danger. If a Recruiter declines you or doesn’t choose to reach out, it is because the hiring team declined you, or you don’t have the experience. You will most likely not be considered for future roles because of this. When I see people giving advice to reach outside the Recruiter, it’s bad advice. Very rare is this a good idea.
