Senior associate in a transactional practice, have not reached hours in last two years due to quietness in practice area but also some politics. Want to be a partner but not sure if I have a shot at the current firm. At what point should I consider jumping ship?

If you receive an offer how can you ask for more time other than the two weeks to give notice? I would like a week or two to myself before I start working for a new company - is that too much to ask for?

I thought that too of some of the middle eastern and Caribbean island managers I worked with on a job once, but they turned out to be the most supportive and inquisitive. But I feel ya, sometimes you can sense if they'll be hostile toward you. But I don't give af at this point. In the end, they're still professionals working for Big 4 and probably won't dare say anything to you about it, even if it does bother them. Way I see it, ignorant people like that don't go very far working in our industry.

4PQE. UK. Have been offered a job at another firm but they've only agreed to match my salary. I went back asking for more and have been sternly told that's not possible as I'm already being offered more than what their bandings allow.

The new firm seems like it would be better for the sector I'm specialising in but anyone else I hear that moves tends to get a considerable payrise! I feel reluctant to move if I'm not getting a big pay jump... Is moving for the same pay a done thing?

Today I tried to tell myself what my favorite thing of being a lawyer is, and the only thing I could think about is when the direct deposit hits every couple of weeks…

So I pulled an all nighter on Monday to do this thing, spend Tuesday like a zombie (and I had 5 calls!!!) then on 6PM the senior reviewing my work came back with comments that I needed to turn “ASAP”. I was so tired I just said I would not because I needed to sleep. I sent them today at 1:30 PM.
Would you get mad if your mid-level/junior did that? I’m all for pulling all-nighters and billing but everything has a limit.
