Two phones, one for the plug and one for the load.

The more you know.

I always have had 2 phones. Keeps your info separate and you can throw away your work phone for the evenings/weekends without closings

Company phone, unless your firm has zero history of receiving subpoenas for phone files or remote wiping fired associate’s phones. And even then.

I'm at GT and have two phones. Just beware that the company phone number they give you is a Florida number (no matter what you put as your preference on the intake form). It's an older iphone which I don't know how to use but gets the job done. It's also so liberating to leave it in my living room when I go to sleep so I can scroll through memes in peace until 2AM on my personal device.

likefunny

I actually got them to change my number to a local one after explaining that no one would answer my calls seeing the FL #.

like

Two phones! Agree that it is liberating to be able to leave the work phone in another room, and no random spike of anxiety every time the personal phone dings.

like

I got 2. They’ll give you an iPhone SE. only bad thing is having to carry 2

like

So if I choose to just use my phone it’s just the plan that’s paid for

I am a new (lateral) associate at a small firm where everyone currently works from the office. When I started, I wasn’t told specific firm hours. I’ve tried to figure out when to come and go based upon when the partners arrive and leave, but their schedules are very inconsistent. The other associates don’t have helpful guidance for me. Assuming that if I ask the partners they’ll say to use my discretion, what are reasonable hours to keep?

So should I negotiate equity in every round of funding?

Okay so, I find myself in a tough situation. Recently, my professional license became jeopardized. There’s many details that I rather not share publicly just incase, but trust me when I say that this was over a ridiculous complaint that wasn’t serious. I have an attorney involved working with me on an appeal, but I’m really nervous and feel that I morally made the right decisions in the situation that I faced. I was wondering: has anyone ever faced a situation like this? I need advice!

Curious to hear how Account Exec comp is being broken down for those in Canada that do Solution Sales. After many years in recruitment I’m taking on solutions. Loving it! Just don’t know what industry comp looks like and would love to hear how others in Canada are remunerated.

The wall will cost between $27bn and $40. $40bn is "more than the 2016 annual budget of the Departments of Energy, the Interior, Justice or State." And still people want the wall...

3rd year associate. Former fed law clerk. Working at ID firm. Doing slip and falls and wrecks. Recently received big law offer to do products. Really want to go. Gave notice to current firm. Current firm really wants me to stay, counters that it will try to get me salary as close to big law offer and give me complex work. Stay at ID firm or accept big law offer?

Second year associate, started at a new firm recently and got put on a fast paced transaction. Made mistakes (drafting errors and tardiness to a call) that feel irredeemable… although no one has scolded me yet. As we move into next phase of the transaction the senior associate on the deal asked to meet 1-1 to discuss “logistics” and “my time/role” on the transaction. . .

Any advice on how to handle in the instance that I receive negative feedback during this conversation?

Joining a big firm next week as fully remote lateral and flying out to home office for orientation. The schedule has me in office until 4:15. I’ve already been told I won’t have any actual work. Depending on how many people are there and how it feels, I was planning to stay an hour extra but should I hang around the office until later? Working on some law firm applications tonight and it sucks that I know that I am so capable and have a strong work ethic but firms can’t see beyond grades or the fact that I didn’t go to a t14 law school or prestigious undergrad. I’ve worked twice as hard and feel like I’ve barely even gotten half as much. It’s discouraging sometimes especially because I worked so hard with pretty much no guidance (first gen, poc, low-income) to get into college and do well and then get into a t30 law school
