How many firms is too many? I’ve practiced 13 years. Since I was a 1st year associate, every 3 years or so I’ve been recruited for another opportunity that is hard to pass up. I’ve been at my current firm 3 years and got the call again, again about an opportunity that is hard to pass up. I don’t like having a reputation of a flight risk, but this keeps happening. First year here. Do associates get fired for not meeting the billable requirements?

Second year associate, started at a new firm recently and got put on a fast paced transaction. Made mistakes (drafting errors and tardiness to a call) that feel irredeemable… although no one has scolded me yet. As we move into next phase of the transaction the senior associate on the deal asked to meet 1-1 to discuss “logistics” and “my time/role” on the transaction. . .

Any advice on how to handle in the instance that I receive negative feedback during this conversation?

Partners: I’m a sr. associate managing multiple cases without a whole lot of oversight. A few of the cases I am managing are very large, very fast, and very contentious. I try to be as immersed in the details as I can, but can’t know everything. I rely on others to give me accurate and actionable facts. Lately, the actions I have been taking have been based on wrong, inaccurate, or incomplete info. I then get reamed in M&Cs and look like an idiot. [Cont. in comments]
