The worst part of working overtime right after the longest tax season of your life is your spouse getting pissed at you for working. I’m a tax manager who has been the acting tax Director since my firm fired our last Director the week before Christmas. Work has been hell for the last 7 months and now on top of everything else, I’m in charge of payroll (we fired our payroll department in January but still kept like 25 clients for fun) and returns are due Friday. I’m depressed and exhausted.
Has everyone that's been getting laid off been on the bench? Or were you guys actively on projects and got surprised come CRT?
Agency CEO: This is a family... but if our annual profits are only 5% instead of 7%, you’re fired. 🤔🤨
For those of you who got laid off, did you hear anything about it in advance? Did you expect it? It seems like most people who got laid off were blindsided. P.S. I'm sorry if this happened to you.
I was laid off in June and just got a job offer that I am excited about. However, my partner and I are also in discussions about moving. The job would be remote for at least another 5+ months so it wouldn’t be an issue now, but eventually people will be back in the office in some hybrid plan. Is it better to float the possibility of working remote long term with HR now? Or do I accept and say nothing til we’ve officially decided to move. I don’t want to lose the opportunity. What would u do?
Laid off a few months ago, but got another offer last week. I told new potential employer I quit, will they find out I was laid off during background check? What should I do
Consulting Quote for the Big 4- "The top 33% quit, the bottom 33% get fired and the middle 34% slug it out and go on to become PPDs".
How are those who got laid off doing job search wise? Feeling a little bit discouraged at the moment :(
Saturday marked 14 years since I was fired and started my own agency. Getting fired did not break me then and this pandemic is not going to break me now. Stick with it, everyone.
Been hell of a year so far. Sort of bittersweet. Lost my job a few months back. Laid off the first time. But my net worth is all time high. And not only that, this has been the fastest increase. 401k up 40% this year. Personal brokerage up 40%. And just refinanced at 2.5. Not sure whether to be sad or happy. Guess will go with happy for now.
If John Schnatter resigned before the layoffs, would we have kept the account and all our lost soldiers?
i was laid off yesterday and only have 5 months of associate producer experience. anyone know of anyone hiring entry level production positions around chicago?
> agency hiring for creative role > provide a few different referrals, all POC > they hire white dude anyway > guy gets fired within two weeks of being here but they “can’t find diverse talent” 😴
Who else is worried about flu season with covid? One it may compound it and make it worse, and two the symptoms are so similar everyone will be freaking out
AMA! Target west coast undergrad, strong internships and GPA. Was choosing between BB IB, MBB and a LMM PE fund at graduation. Ended up going with the PE fund due to the great culture and promotion path to VP in 3.5 years. Now 1.5 years in and don't regret my decision whatsoever. Happy to answer questions for recent college grads / people in industry / seniors.
Any tips for figuring out a day rate at a senior account level? Had seen the tip of adding 30% to salary (with the expectation of getting lower). Is there any right formula? Thank you!
Junior associate here with very little work. I reached out to the assigning partner, but I haven’t heard back. I’m struggling to motivate myself to seek out more work by talking to other partners or coming up with ideas for articles and other non-billable work. Instead I find myself reading books, watching movies, and generally just kicking back and enjoying the free time. That said, I feel guilty that I’m not working a ton like I used to. I’m also worried that my lack of pro activity when it
Our company is considering offering 401K employer match. We are about 200 employees venture backed company. We have about 60% participation mostly the non HCEs and only some key employees contribute. We always pass top heavy test and wpassed the 2019 ADP/ACP test. We are aggressively hiring and project there will be increase in participation, particularly if we offer the match. Given this information would it make sense to continue with a traditional 401k plan or go with safe Harbor plan?
I am interviewing with Deloitte and they are saying that work being done at the Manager rank with their competitors is what they expect from their Senior, and so on for next rank. Is that correct?
What’s Accenture’s pharma r&d tech consultant role like? 1. Is it mostly implementation or tech strategy/ communicating business value of tech? 2. Is it a lot of work with offshore team? 3. How is WLB?
If you're applying for a job, and they ask a referral. Who you give? A friend? Colleague..? Assuming your company is not aware you're planning to leave and you want to keep it like that
Hello- I recently got laid off from Deloitte where i was on bench for 5 months. I have been getting project outside but my practice management did not let me. And the reason for lay off is my benchtim
Being on H1B, as I don’t qualify for TSA Pre-check & Clear Pass, what other options do we have to expedite the airport security check process? (Other than Airline status)
Sales Folks, if you had to make the choice - would you close the deal at 75% of the forecast number on time, or hold out for the chance at 125% of the forecast number and be a quarter late?
Attention HR professionals at medical device/pharma companies: will those workers who regularly visit hospitals to service equipment, give clinical instructions on product, and sell, be eligible for vaccines any time soon? I’m getting conflicting info on where these workers fall in the vaccine hierarchy, and of course every state’s rollout is different.
Second year BTA- if I get on an internal role for 4-6months will that risk me not being promoted even if I do well in that role?
One thing that really sucks about COVID is the fact that so many friends have moved away from the city. 🙁
12 yo kid sitting next to me on a cross country redeye was doing his best Voldemort impression the entire time...gotta admit though, the dude was pretty good.
