Any advice on how to get into the sales side of Investment Banking? I have above average experience, have a finance background degree but keep failing the initial application stages (before the interview stages) and then watch people on LinkedIn with less experience get roles with top banks. I understand that I need to figure out how to get past the application tracking systems but it can be really frustrating at times and advice online is often very generic (I.e. tell them about yourself).
Hi everyone. I am currently interviewing to make a lateral move to another department. This is a higher octane role (which traditionally pays more). If I’m successful, what should I expect in an offer? Should I expect a pay raise or will I have to negotiate during my next comp discussion?
What does it mean when in an interview HR and the department head tell you the hiring manager is “tough” and has “different and higher expectations” than them ? I had a toxic boss before should I be concerned...
What’s an average Business Analyst salary @ Deloitte for 2 YOE? I’m looking to apply there but want to make sure I’m not taking a pay cut (currently making $120k). Should I be applying to a consultant instead if I am taking a pay cut? Trying to understand Deloitte’s career hierarchy
Have an interview with GS this week for a Bank Compliance Associate role. Genuinely have no idea what these types of roles usually command (base + bonus). Any insight?
Went through 3 rounds of interviews for a fin.analyst role at a relatively big consulting company. After the superday, they rejected me by saying im overqualified, won’t be challenged enough. I think it’s total crap. Have an offer for an FA role at a small firm, that’s primary focused on L&H insurance in NYC but not too excited.. (graduating this week, Ugad finance). How do you usually deal with rejections or having to take the job you don’t like?
I received a take home case study for a strategic finance position. They gave me historical statements for the last 3 years (quarterly) and asked for insights/observations and opportunities/trends. What should I be observing here? I’m used to just modeling exams but I’m not sure how to proceed here. They didn’t give industry but this looks like retail store financials when they are a software company....
I have a modeling interview coming up but my personal laptop is a macbook...so I need to use my work laptop to do the test and likely need the interviewer to email my work email... Is this risky? Currently an investment banking analyst if that makes a difference.
Any tips and tricks for an EY Video Interview?
Unsure about what to do.. worked as an analyst out of school for $60K 2017-2019. Left after 1yr due to a toxic work environment & to care for my grandpa who had cancer in 2019. Was out of work for 2 years & now have an offer in accounting for the government at $40K. Should I take it because any job is better than nothing or should I keep interviewing & wait for something more aligned with my goals & salary expectations. Don’t want to make the wrong choice again.
Hi, I managed to score a case study interview for Analyst/Senior Analyst role at M&A Transaction Services at Deloitte in Australia. Anyone has any idea what’s the case study format might look like? I heard it is a lot more technical than consulting case studies. Any answers would be greatly appreciated!
I have a buy side interview tomorrow but have not had any time at all to prepare given workload. Has anyone been in a similar situation and have any suggestions for how to manage? I have a bunch of deliverables tonight and want to get decent sleep so I don’t think I’ll be able to prepare. This is a first round interview so I am hopig it won’t be too technical

I got a invite for a round two interview at Goldman. The email states to reach out with any questions. Is it poor form to ask “how to prep” for this? I really love the role and am stoked about it.
Why tf is the interview process so rigorous when I spend all my time reformatting miniscule details on slides?
My new job is not what they made it out to be in the interview and I feel like I’m not living up to my potential. I feel like my skills would be a better fit elsewhere on the team and I would also learn more and be more productive. Have been with the for 7 months is this too soon to bring it up with boss/boss’ boss?
Has anyone here gone through the Goldman Sachs early careers process? Would love to know more about the interviews and timeline for a early careers in Sales at Goldman
Does anyone feel as if they are wasting time in their current role? Does it make you anxious that you are “falling behind”? How do you cope with it? I am struggling to deal with those emotions. I am actively looking for the next role but the job market, interview process, rejections, etc aren’t helping. Thank you.
Was recently contacted by HR to invite me to interview/apply for internal position. Has anyone been through a similar process either at UBS or another firm? How long did the process take you? Any suggestions?

Anyone here from BCG willing to connect and help me prep for an interview I have coming up? I’ve never done a consulting interview before and would really appreciate the help

What do case studies for consultants look like? I have an interview coming up and have never done one before so I’m trying my best not to freak out. Any tips? Things I should know? Any recommended resources to use? Etc.
Have a final round interview with a VC where the partners will give me a company and assumptions and I will have to "structure a deal". I've never worked with companies in that early of astage and I work in M&A where most processes are bids. What should I expect here? Any tips or resources I should check up on?
How do you guys deal with interviewers who are not genuine/“nice” to you during interviews? I just had an interview with this COO from a small crypto firm, was pretty excited going into the call... until he started off asking me random questions to test my knowledge about the space, which I appreciate but what made me feel very uncomfortable was the tone and the way he presented... I’m in Finance trying to break into that space so obviously I don’t have professional experience there..
Came across some people who leave their firm for less than half a year on Linkedin. Why? How they get through the interview to go next with the same position?
When you’re interviewing for a new job and trying to read up about the things you don’t know but you don’t know what you don’t know 😞
I’ve been going on interviews lately but not hearing back and I wonder if it’s to some extent because I started note taking during interviews. When the interviewer is speaking I usually take notes on what he says and then towards the end I usually have questions I wrote down when they were speaking based on what they said. Could taking notes be perceived as negative because my head is down?
Do you still send “thank you” notes after an interview for more senior roles? If so, are they shorter thank you notes vs. the ones sent when applying for junior roles?
What did you have to go through to get your current role and how did you prepare for it ? Almost every interview now has an excel case, multiple rounds, different types of testing ?
Anyone have insight into what a VP interview for a PE role entails? Currently a VP on buyside, not sure what to expect and there isn’t much chatter online about it
I had a first round interview for 30 mins for a job at JPMorgan on Monday. How long does it typically take to hear from them if you’re chosen for the next round and an external candidate? They said I should hear back by the end of the week if I’m chosen, but haven’t heard a peep yet and getting really anxious because I really want the job...

I have an interview for social media strategist with a rising DTC startup in NYC. I’m feeling imposter syndrome, since I’ve never marketed such a big, hip company. What books can I read or courses can I take to come into the interview solid and prepared? Most of my marketing theory is based on Seth Godin books and reading psychology.
Tips on interviewing with McKinsey?

I am in early interviewing stages for a Senior Manager role at Bain in the Advanced Analytics Group. I am interested in applying my specialty across a variety of sectors, not just retail. A few huge questions in my mind though. 1) Travel - recruiter said 60% travel, whenever it resumes. Any info on when that is? Recruiter just said "sometime next year"
If there’s been no movement in status does that mean you didn’t get chosen for the role? This is what I see when I check my candidate profile: Status Interview Completed - Awaiting Hiring Team Feedback Last Update 12/2/2020 Follow-ups to HR and the hiring manager were not answered.
My sister is interviewing for a technical accounting position (she has prior corporate accounting experience) and the hiring manager has asked her to write a memo based on a set of facts provided for a transaction they entered into. Is this standard practice in the interview process now? I am not sure how to best advise her

Californians, I am curious what firms decide to do regarding honoring Juneteenth going forward. Part of the reason I ask is that Cesar Chavez Day (state holiday) is virtually unrecognized by any firm. Some interesting decisions to be made.
For lawyers, If I post a political message and get fired, can I still get unemployment. Nothing disparaging against my firm.

I am looking to take some time off, but have no idea what to do in these covid times. Someone suggested a cabin get away. But I don't know anywhere interesting near Chicago. I am open to the idea but a bit aprehensive since I basically travel on my own. Are there any other suggestions?
I think the other analysts in my team don’t like me because I told them it’s bad to talk behind people’s backs a couple of times when i overheard their conversation. Now it feels incredibly lonely because they don’t include me and with WFH, i noticed that they have created a separate chat without me. I have no regrets doing what I’ve done because I felt I had to stand up for my other colleagues. Anyone here with a similar experience? How did you deal with it?
