Something I only came to understand in recent years is that the Luddites, the real historical Luddites, weren't stupid and they weren't afraid of machines. They broke up weaving machines because the machines produced work that was shoddy but "good enough." And that's essentially where we are with AI in the workplace. It's slop, but because it saves money, management will often consider it good enough.
