It all depends on how much free time you have. My wife and I started an LLC to use as a shell company for real estate purchases. Bought two condos (not all at once), cleaned them up on weekends, and rented them out for $1300 a month. Small time commitment as the condo association handles many issues itself. A little maintenance is required from time to time but that's all.
Assess your talents. You might have several options. Try writing a book, fiction or non, and selling that on Amazon. Market yourself as a freelance editor or blog writer. You've got any number of options, just depends on how obligated your time is in law practice.
