I am also pregnant at the moment. Due in June and contemplating this same thing. I’m about 6 months pregnant right now and wondering should I tell interviewers when I interview? Following!
I would not share this detail until hired on. There are pregnancy discrimination laws in place for the hiring process but not all companies follow them unfortunately & it’s not a requirement that you need to disclose this info during the interview process.
It all depends on the benefits your employer provides to be honest. Ask about their parental leave policies during the interview process. FMLA only protects your employment if you’ve worked there for a year.
First, congratulations!
Second, something similar happened to me a few years ago. I started a new job and found out I was pregnant a month in. It was scary because I wasn’t sure if I’d qualify for some of the maternity benefits as I was so new but my manager and HR were incredible in helping me navigate the process. I did tell my boss around 9wks only because the fatigue was so bad that I was falling asleep in my office.
I’d say disclose once you feel comfortable but also connect with HR to find out what benefits are in place to help you and your family. Your baby is coming regardless so better to have a plan in place asap to minimize as much stress as you can going forward. Good luck to you!
Don’t tell if you want to be hired….
