Update: I had some land burn, and the wind tore up my shingles, but nothing bad happened to me or my family. People around us had to temporarily evacuate. Most of the fires in the area are out.
We have to make it through a few more days of these conditions still. Thank you for the prayers and well wishes. This has been bad, but we feel blessed that it could be much worse, but hasn’t been so far.

That all makes perfect sense. Extended periods of drought punctuated by short periods of abnormally high rainfall are entirely consistent with a warming climate.
