What?? Did she ask for a $2M salary and a private helicopter or something? I've never heard of this happening to anyone I know or had it to me personally. I've had my requests denied before, sure, but never had an offered pulled just because I asked for a higher salary. I figured every company expected you to negotiate, but that's clearly not the case..

She asked for 12k more annually and 4 weeks of pto rather than the 3 they offered.
Unfortunately, I have heard of this happening quite a few times this year. It's a result of the job market being so heavily in favor of employers. If their candidate won't take what is offered, there are another 10 candidates who are just as experienced ready to accept whatever they are offered.

Sadly that seems to be the case. It’s crazy how companies can pay so little and yet the economy is crazy. Capitalism is destroying our society.
I've heard of companies rescinding offers, but I've always assumed it was a pretty rare situation. Generally speaking, for a company to rescind an offer it's because someone has offended them by asking for something unserious. Or perhaps the restaurant just has a policy of not negotiating and just bringing it up angered them.

12k more and four weeks of pro rather than three seems reasonable for her background and skillset. I guess not to them.
