I’m a huge fan of using your favorite ai and give a prompt like this:

I need to practice for interviews for a teacher job. Please pretend to be my interviewer for a potential (insert job you are interested in here) and ask me one question at a time, then I will answer. Then give me tips and assess my answer before asking me another question.

A different but similar tip is to google common interview questions and practice answering them with someone who will be honest and critique your answers. If you don’t get uncomfortable or cry at least once, then they went too easy on you.

I’m so glad you found it helpful. I hope you get the job you are looking for! Best wishes!

A good general tip for an interview is to think about a narrative you'd want to get across. A good example would be to make mention of how much you feel you improved at your previous job. It helps to get across the idea that you're always learning, you're enthusiastic about teaching, and you're not interested in just filling space. Also, do your research and have some idea of the school's culture and history. If there are specific programs that interest you, be prepared to discuss them. And be prepared to talk about what you consider to be your best work.

Good luck!!!!

Learn all the buzz words of the school and district. Don't be afraid to pump yourself up. Make a list of things you are proud of, because usually there is a time for applicants to share things with admin about why they would be good for the job. Blow smoke! When asked about discipline never tell them that you send kids up to the office.

Also carry your references and a copy of your resume.

Be specific with you answers and try not to ramble. Center your ideas and responses around students—both their academic and social emotional behaviors and needs. Be warm and enthusiastic. Be comfortable explaining your own strengths and areas for growth. Don’t bullshit. Don’t wear too much perfume. When they ask you if you have any questions for them, ask about the department and/or school culture. Ask about collaboration and community. Good luck!

Has anyone who's worked in HR, Finance, or another role with visibility to compensation information been able to use that as leverage for salary negotiations?

To put it bluntly, I know certain people with less experience and a lower performance rating are getting paid more than me due to my role working with payroll data. I suspect this was due to the fact that I did not counter offer when I accepted this role, which was a few months ago, and now I regret it.

Here are my observations about the skills and experiences that PMs have and how people are joining that group.

They are all technical. All of them could easily be very technical cloud consultants or cloud engineers.
Tl/Dr. If you couldn't get hired as a cloud engineer or cloud consultant - you probably can't become a PM
