Sure, I always make some. They're a fun tradition. Up until a few years ago I assumed New Year's resolutions were, like most of our holiday traditions, an invention of the Victorian Era. It turns out the tradition goes back much farther, to the ancient Babylonians. Their year was different, beginning with the spring equinox, but the resolution tradition was carried over when the Roman year later became standard. This might be the oldest tradition we uphold, as it goes back 4,000 years.
Yes. Yes I do. I take the time during the week between Christmas and New Years to reflect on the past year, think about what went well, what could use improvement, and what I would like to work on, and make a few resolutions from there!
Never bothered.
Nope never have. Silly to try.
This year I tried to start in December to build the habit so that way by Jan I just need to keep up with the new habit-so far it’s working!
On and off. I believe in making goals, but I feel like resolutions set people up for failure because they’re usually not thought out real well before hand. I also don’t like the idea of a resolution starting the first day of the New Year after many drinks!
I make them….but like so many, I’m terrible at keeping them…

Yes - I’m always successful in my yearly resolution to “not have a resolution” 😆

No. I've never thought they were a very productive idea.
I do like the idea of picking one word for the year, and then reflecting periodically about how well you're trying to live it out.

I had a student ask me if I had made any New Year's Resolutions. I said no, I thought they were a waste of time because they're usually so big they fail. Instead, I just try to get a little better each day. After a while, those little changes add up. The students thought that was the most sensible thing they ever heard.
