I wouldn't be as afraid to ask questions be curious. Skills will get you in the door, but it’s curiosity that helps you connect, grow, and stay relevant. People who ask great questions show up in unexpected rooms and aren't afraid to challenge the status quo.
This amazing advice. I’ve been trying to be more curious myself lately, and it has been opening me up to increased opportunity.
Don’t burn yourself out in the first five years. Don’t be the drunkest person at dinners (tap out at 3 and learn to coast). Have some humor about everything - money comes and goes. Your career won’t be linear but the friends you make along the way trading will be for life. Never give up your hobby of trolling Fishbowl it will bring more laughs you can imagine (and who knew there were so many fishbowl trolls who have a day job doing fixed income trading!!)
Oh need to add - try to take care of your health a bit more. You got fat from all those steak dinners - you’re still hot but working out is tedious and dropping all the weight was a pain in the ass.
I would tell myself to be more courageous and take those risks. I’ve doubted myself too much along the years and I think I would have been better off not overthinking it
This is a big one for me. I went into this field because my parents/teachers bashed graphic design at the time I was in high school/college, saying "get into something where you can actually make money..." I wish I followed my heart and not their advice, but I was too young. Too impressionable.

Totally agree! Networking is such a game-changer. I’d tell my younger self to be more proactive about meeting people - it opens up so many unexpected opportunities.
