I just started Unbroken, A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption. It's a true story of a former Olympic athlete who became an airman, then his plane crashed, but he survived. It's already hooking me in... the author also wrote Seabiscuit, which I also enjoyed.
I just picked up the new bio of Perle Mesta, by Meryl Gordon. I've barely gotten started on it, but it's off to a good start. The title, The Woman Who Knew Everyone, is apt. She was a figure in DC society for decades, so the book is something of a cultural history besides being a biography. And I've finally gotten the new Sally Rooney novel, I need to get going on that, I'm way behind all the chatter about it.
Finally reading Barbara Kingsolver's Demon Copperfield! It's tragic and beautiful, can't put it down!! I've also got the new Sally Rooney on my list. I love her!
Currently reading Kristin Hannahโs books. โthe Womenโ, โ The Great Aloneโ are two I highly recommend.
I havenโt started yet- Aleph by Paulo Coelho. A coworker recommended it, and I didn'tโ really have anything on the โto readโ list. Also author of The Alchemist which totally flew over my head until I started looking up the book! Something I remember reading in high school, but haven't seen or thought about it since then. Which got me thinking, what is a novel you remember from school that you havenโt seen since then?
