Is there any particular experience I should try and get at a big law firm to try and help get one of these jobs? I’ve done some insurance disputes that went to arbitration, but is litigation experience helpful?

Part time at a good firm
Part-time attorneys are usually a counsel, but also sometimes an associate or partner.
They typically get health insurance and other benefits, just like an associate. They don’t have any of the risks associated with being with a partner, they are a salaried employee.
Often there is a reduced hours target that is negotiated between the attorney and the firm. Usually, it’s just a 20% or 30% reduced schedule, and you make proportionately less money.
You can also negotiate a schedule accommodation. For instance, I know a number of part-time attorneys who are out of the office one day a week, or leave early to pick up kids after school, etc.

I’m in house at an European multinational and we get 24 weeks. Pay is around that range. Flexibility will be company dependent though and a lot of them aren’t hiring right now
