Smart casual is just a polite way of saying “We expect you to look polished but won’t spell out the rules.” If men can get away with a button-down and slacks, why do we feel pressured to overthink it? I say wear what makes you feel confident and powerful, and if in doubt, dress a notch above the norm—never hurts to be the best-dressed in the room.

Before the pandemic, our dress code was much stricter. I typically wore a knee-length skirt with a neat blouse, and if I felt extra fancy, I'd add a blazer. However, after the pandemic, our policy became much more relaxed, and I can real casual clothes including jeans.

Do any of you work in a different country than your company is based? I would love to eventually work internationally (based in the USA), ideally remote, but I’m not sure how realistic it is for most people
