Where do you see the future of government jobs going over the next couple of years? So many people seem to be all doom and gloom about it, but then I see articles like this where public agencies are on a hiring spree. No idea what to think!

I look at this way: Mr Doge’s wealth is completely dependent on government sources. His car company would have never happened without tax credits. His rocket company has government contracts worth billions. Unless he’s truly willing to part with some of that tax money, nothing he says will be credible.
The federal workforce is under attack, and depending on how effective the effort to diminish the federal government will be, it's a good bet that things will get rough. But local governments, at least in well governed states, could continue to do a fair amount of hiring. The anti-government mania may make a dent, but people will still be expecting services, and someone will have to provide them.
I work in local government and we discuss your last point often. There is definitely a way to balance the message where people feel the government is lean while still being able to provide what they want.
Looking at one article for one state doesn't mean anything. Government jobs encompasses federal, state, county and city. City/county/state where I live doesn't have squat and will only get worse over the next four years. I'm glad I work federal.
Depends on the State, and municipal government, as to how they negotiate tax and fee revenue shifts and bootstrap expected shortfalls from Federal funding allocations in the next four years.
