This is about the 5th post I’ve seen from you that seems to come from a “victim” mindset.
Why are employers so greedy?
Can one find a job that pays well enough in LA while also allowing you to have a life?
Etc.
Maybe it’s your mindset.
NOP, I know it’s not necessarily an easy thing to do, but if you don’t like it, there’s so much move!
I found a lot of peace of mind when I stopped expecting companies to care about their employees. I mean, a company isn't a person. It doesn't have feelings or emotions or empathy. It's not really reasonable to expect a profit machine to care about anything but profit.
Not according to the Citizens United SCOTUS case that basically said corporations are persons who are entitled to free speech rights. Worst decision ever if you ask me.

I think the question you’re asking has a fairly complex answer. But in short I think it’s partly a cultural thing, at least in the U.S. After the neoliberal turn of the 70s and 80s, companies were given cover to just offload any sort of social responsibility and focus solely on profits. That mindset also permeated our culture, and it’s just been going on for decades. So now it’s often taken for granted that employers act in that way, and that’s how you end up with regular people defending policies that only benefit the richest of employers.
I was handed a broken miter saw stand for my job and when it became so broken that it was a danger to use i asked one of the bosses to see if he can get a new one. He told me "everyone wants to make money, no one wants to spend money." A coworker of mine bought his own tools. I asked him if he got a raise. He said no. So, I agree. Employers are greedy.
Well, if you’re in the United States, then you’re correct, employers care about profits. To make things worse this economy favors employers over employees so they get to take advantage of us.
