Yes if I could get the results validated by a doctor after. AI is really good at this, you just want to avoid false positives
This is so true, AI may be overfitting.
I think so. There are tons of stories showing how good AI can be at this sort of thing, and I'm sure it's only going to get better with time.
Very true
I get the hesitation! It sounds interesting, especially with the lower radiation doses, but I’d probably want to do more research before spending the money. It’s tempting, but I’d want to know how accurate and reliable these AI screenings really are compared to traditional methods. Have you checked reviews?
But what if these AIs are better than humans?
I like to give "invasive" new health tech/procedures/surgeries a grace period of 2 to 5 years before I sign up for them unless it's an emergency.
Allows them to work the kinks out and find out some short to mid term effects.
Good idea
Nah, I'd be skeptical of that. I'll go along with some of the AI hype, but there are things I wouldn't trust it with. And medical stuff is obviously in that area.
What are you skeptical about?
It depends on the tests that are included.
It could be a fancy way of getting blood tests and other routine tests that would ordinarily be part of your regular check up with PCP.
I got suckered into joining Forward, a subscription health service that was supposed to be high tech. It wasn’t. It was just an expensive but convenient alternative to seeing my in network PCP. They still referred me to a bunch of specialists for additional testing, but none of them took my insurance. So I just about gave up, then Forward went out of business a few months ago.
Wow crazy that they only survived for a few months
I think the broader question would be much more simplified if the radiation aspect was removed from the equation
What radiation?
Absolutely not.
Why not?
Need a lot more detail. Is this one test (e.g., non-invasive, full-body scan with AI reviewing images)? AI is really good at certain types of imaging, like radiology, but I don’t know how proven it is in other areas.
Like others, I would have concerns about reliability: both false positives (scaring you for no reason) AND false negatives (giving you a false sense of relief).
I just went thru the former with a completely different situation and test, and spent a lot of money on additional testing (not to mention the anxiety).
But can't humans also generate false positives and false negatives?
This is so interesting. If the AI screening is even as good as a junior doctor, it's well worth the price
