I’m not so worried about AI. We can’t even figure out driverless cars =]
Additionally most problems I see are either representational or data engineering. And there is always the human component to consider.
You might be right, yet it’s not a tech limitation, so it will take one disruptive player to offer that 10x ROI incentive justifying switch costs and risk. Someone will get it right eventually.
Lot of online resources to upskill. Many of them are free. As consultants, you have seen so many problems. Having that lens is very helpful
I’m thinking of starting at a different firm - same type of work but they have more data science resources / developer access. It would def increase my exposure but want more hands on skills..
The term AI is misleading - we are not even close to artificial intelligence, all we have and will have in foreseeable future is heuristics. If you think of it “AI” can only automate repetitive tasks, so not really useful to tackle any idiosyncratic problems.
The use of AI is entirely correct in the context of Computer Science, and the “true AI” people keep discussing like this would be described as AGI
Not yet ... I totally agree that AI is being used in many context and one can debate what it truly means
I took a Masters course in AI from Edinburgh University.
Where it would be interesting to see more AI is in areas like product design and manufacturing. Generative design coupled with additive manufacturing could be really cool. Or even subtractive manufacturing on 5 axis mills...
True - but there are many challenges like computer vision , language translations that are mature now.
I have been considering a second bachelors degree in comp sci then masters degree in comp sci. NYU also has a bridge program to their masters in comp sci but NYU is expensive.
I’m also thinking about the PHD in computer science. The timeline seems so long though.
